Frequently Asked Questions
I am a little nervous about having therapy. This is a common feeling for individuals who are about to commence therapy. After all, talking about your thoughts and feelings to someone you have never met before can feel quite daunting but you don’t have to worry, this is quite normal. I am not here to judge you, I am here to help you.
Ok, so I decide that I want to see you, what will happen? You can get in get in touch either by my contact page, or sending me a text message. If you prefer you can call. We can then agree a mutually convenient time for a free brief telephone consultation. This should take no longer than 15 minutes but it will give you the opportunity to decide if you want us to work together.
Are our discussions confidential? Everything we discuss in therapy is strictly confidential and kept totally between us except in certain circumstances. If there is a risk the client may harm another person then I am legally obliged to inform an appropriate authority. I may not necessarily inform the client of my action. I may talk about elements of our conversation with my supervisor, but once again you do not have to worry, as I will have given you a false name to protect your identity.
How many sessions will I need? This is a common question but quite difficult to answer as it is different for each individual. Each person I see bring their own varying issues, each uniquely different and meaningful to them. This is why it is difficult to put a time scale on the amount of sessions needed as its different for everyone.
How often do I need to attend? I will suggest six weekly sessions initially and then discuss how it is going on the sixth session. This will give you some time to explore your thoughts and feelings and start to make sense of them.
When are you available? I offer sessions on weekdays Monday through to Friday between 8am and 7pm. I am also available Saturday's between 9am and 1pm in Stratford on Avon.
What is the cost of a session? Therapy sessions last 50 minutes and cost £50 Sex/Pornography addiction sessions also last's 50 minutes at a charge of £70 I am able to provide a discount for block bookings.
What if I am unable to attend and cancel? Sometimes life does get in the way and cancelations do happen. If you do need to cancel, I ask for at 24 hours notice. This gives me a little time to allow other clients to book in with me and you will not be charged. If a cancelation is made on the day I will charge the full amount, however this can be discussed at the time.
